Obituary of Loretta M. Carr

The death of Loretta M. Carr of 125 Boyaner Crescent, widow of Willard 'The Whiz' Carr, occurred at her residence on Saturday, October 30, 2004, surrounded by loved ones. Loretta born in Saint john on February 2, 1922, a daughter of the late John and Mabel (Stevenson) Walker. She had spent many years with Willard and the Carrand Stables training race horses and had won the Maritime Powder Puff Derby. She had also worked at the canteen at the Simonds Arena, at Budget Rent A Car, and at the Simonds Co-op. She had been a volunteer at the East Saint John Food Bank, the Ladies Auxilliary Saint John Regional Hospital, U.C.W. Silvers Falls United Church, the Canada Games, Festival by the Sea, Silver Falls Scouting,and East Saint John Minor Basketball. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Willis and Arnold Walker. She is survived by two daughter, Patricia of Saint John, and Cheryl (Gerald) of Niagara Falls; two sons, Eugene (Dorothy) of Ridgeway, Ont., and Blair (Joan) of Nauwigewauk; three brothers, Douglas (Shirley) of Gardner Creek, Hazen (Susan) of Gardner Creek, and Edward (Phyllis) of Saint John; four sisters, Zeversa (James) Godfrey of Saint John, Lois Boyle of Niagara Falls, Evelyn Ramsay of Gagetown, and June (Joe) Wilband of Cambridge Narrows; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Service will be held in Fitzpatrick's Chapel on Wednesday morning at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.
