Peter Chiswell

Obituary of Peter Stephen Chiswell

Mya Alissandra announces, with profound sadness, the passing of Peter "Chaco" Chiswell at the Palliative Care Unit of the Vancouver General Hospital. Chaco and Mya struggled with his throat cancer over the past five years having remissions and triumphs and hopes along the way which ended on October 29, 2015. "Chaco", the name he used in his practice, had a degree in Kinesiology from U.B.C., and much training and knowledge in exercise science, both eastern and western disciplines. Through his practice, Chaco provided services to agencies such as WorkSafeBC and had been a full-time instructor at Langara College. He was much loved by all with whom he connected. He had a great gift of playfully and curiously engaging in life; sharing his humour and joy, love of learning, and teachings on healing the body, mind and spirit. He lived life to the fullest and had made a huge difference in the peoples’ lives he had touched. Peter’s early life was spent in N.B. where he was born on October 27, 1962. He graduated in 1980 from Kennebecasis Valley High School and spent some years at U.N.B. Peter lived briefly in the U.S. and Australia. Peter’s parents, Richard and Norma Chiswell, brothers, Frederick and Paul (Janet) and other relatives all live around the Saint John area of N.B. Mya and Peter, together for twenty years in Vancouver, had an ongoing and enthusiastic integration with Mya’s extended family, whose members took him into their hearts and homes. The Chiswell family expresses their great appreciation to them all. A celebration of Peter’s life is being planned for a later date in Vancouver, B. C. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the David Suzuki Foundation or charity of the donor’s choice.
