Obituary of Sheila Elizabeth Watson Adams

It is with regret and with consideration of the celebration of the life that was, that we announce that Sheila Elizabeth Watson Adams, a resident of Saint John for the last 40 years, passed away quietly in her sleep at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday, October 28, 2015. Sheila was born in Campbellton, N.B. On July 23, 1943 to the late Beulah Ann (nee Callaghan) and James Alexander Adams. Sheila and her family moved to Trois Rivieres, Quebec in 1955 where she completed her High School education. She went on to obtain her teaching degree at MacDonald College in Montreal. She briefly taught in Rosemere and La Tugue, Quebec and then returned to Campbellton before finally settling in Saint John. Sheila was overcome by, and then dealt with, a mental illness which she battled for most of her adult life. There were many challenges and memorable events during that period which the family have shared and will recount for years to come. Her close friend Cornelius who predeceased Sheila was a big part of her life in Saint John. We would like to acknowledge the support received from the Saint John Community Mental Health Centre especially Cheryl Campbell and Joe Ryan We would also like to thank all her friends who have supported Sheila throughout her challenging journey. A special thanks to the late Mrs. Rita Barry who for many years provided family support to Sheila after the death of Sheila’s mother Beulah Adams in 1977 . Mothers truly do understand and feel the pain and their love, support and encouragement for Sheila was undeniable and never ending. Sheila was predeceased by her parents and her younger brother Ronald Adams who died in an automobile accident in 1966. She is survived by her brother Jamie and his three children Lindsay (Robert), Jordan (Cheryl), and Zachary and his four grandchildren Lauren, Drew, Tristian and Tianna who all reside in Calgary; and her youngest brother John (Moira Barry) who reside in Grand Bay-Westfield and their four children Christina (James) and Paul of Grand Bay-Westfield, Richard (Marissa) of Edmonton, Thomas (Kelly) of Rothesay, and his six grandchildren Isabel, Zoe, Sarah, Elizabeth, Callaghan, and Molly. Her ashes will be interned next to her brother Ronald in Campbellton at a ceremony to be held in the summer of 2016.
