Obituary of Frederick Wayne Hurley

Peacefully, on July 13, 2016, Wayne Hurley passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Wayne was born on October 31, 1933, the eldest son of the late Frederick and Isabel Hurley. Wayne graduated from St. Vincent’s (Boys School) and began a long career in the shipping industry. After having worked with Furness Withy in Saint John and Montreal and Forterm, Wayne retired in 1988. Wayne was a Lay Reader and member of St. Jude’s Anglican Church for more than 38 years. He loved to dance; he and Mary were members of the Beaus and Belles Square Dancing Club and the Fundy Cloggers. His greatest love was his wife Mary and his boys, sons Shawn and Terry. Wayne is survived by his wife of 60 years Mary, sons Shawn Hurley and Terry (Joann) Hurley, a brother Gerrard (Dawn) Hurley, sisters-in-law: Kay Hurley, Rita Johnson and Catherine Johnson, his brother-in-law Bill Johnson and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Wayne was predeceased by an infant son Michael Wayne and brother Brian Hurley. A Memorial Service will be held at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John(634-7424) on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 10 am. Interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery following the service.
