Obituary of Colleen Lynn Elizabeth Van Beelen

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Colleen Van Beelen announces her passing which occurred on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Born on June 14, 1952 she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Dorothy (Williams) Boyle. Colleen was a familiar face at McDonald’s on McAllister Drive, having been employed with them for 30years. She enjoyed reading true crime novels and loved movies. Colleen would often go on shopping trips with her daughters, but above all she enjoyed her family; especially the time spent sneaking treats with her grandson. Colleen will be dearly missed by her family, her daughters: Rachel (Andrew Ough) Van Beelen and Jana Van Beelen, her grandson Jordan Van Beelen, her siblings: Faith, Judy, Lorraine, Mary, Tom, Wendy and Heather, sister-in-law Marilyn Van Beelen, her work friends, along with several nieces, nephews and members of her extended family. Besides her parents, Colleen was predeceased by her sisters: Margaret and Helen and best friend Jackie Remete. The family would like to express their gratitude for the exceptional care that the staff of the SJRH-Oncology Department provided for Colleen. Your kindness and compassion will not be forgotten. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where visitation will be held on Thursday, August 4 from 2-4 and 6-8. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 5 at 10 am from the Brenan’s Chapel with interment to follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Saint John Regional Hospital-Oncology (5AS) or to a charity of donor’s choice.
