Obituary of M. Rita Barry

It is with great sadness that the family of Rita Barry announces her unexpected passing, which occurred on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at her residence. Born in Miramichi, NB on February 12, 1928, she was a daughter of the late George and Sophie (McLaughlin) Driscoll. Rita was a loving wife of 68 years to her husband, Joseph Barry, who passed away in 2012. Rita was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved caring for her family, and spending quality time with them. She will be missed by her children, Elaine McLennan (Gary), Joan Chapman (Laurence), Patricia Coholan (Michael), Susan Carlsen (Finn), Michael Barry and Robert Barry (Jeanann); her treasured grandchildren, Carey Chapman (James), Jason McLennan (Danielle), Jaime Benner (Andrew), Mark Coholan (Tara) and Krista Marsh (Matthew); her precious great grandchildren, Reghan, Rylan, Samantha, Ryker, Ashton, Liam, Ciara and Leah; her siblings, Nan, Shirley, Sonny, Vern, Alison, Linda, Donna and Debbie; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to her parents and husband, Rita was predeceased by a son, Joseph Barry and her siblings, Kay, Edward, Raymond, Doiron and Herbert. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). Visitation will be held at Brenan’s Funeral Home on Friday, April 14, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 9:30 am with interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances made to SPCA – Animal Rescue or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
