Obituary of Audrey Gertrude Barnes

Just as she held us in her arms when she brought us into this world - we held her in ours when we let her go - May 5th, 2017 in Ottawa, ON at the age of 93. She was the daughter of the late James and Inez (Boyd) Williams. She will be lovingly remembered by her children Sandra (Stuart) McIllwraith, Thomas Barnes, Nancy (Charles) Clowater and daughter-in-law Cathy. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Allyson, Heidi, Meaghan, Sean, Gregory, Marlene, Jonathan, Max & Rachel, several great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Helen Williams, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. Audrey was predeceased by her beloved husband John (Jack), son Douglas, sisters Gladys, Mary Jean and brother James (Sonny). Audrey lived with Faith, Love, Compassion and Determination. Always a lady in the true sense of the word. She had an amazing memory which family members drew upon over the years. Her valuable input will be missed. She was lovingly called Nana by many! She enjoyed an ice cap from Tim Hortons on a regular basis. In lieu of flowers or donations, Nana mentioned how she would appreciate people "paying it forward". She will be smiling at the kindness and generosity we show to each other. As per Audrey's wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A Celebration of Life when she is laid to rest at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery will be on Thursday, August 3, 2017. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB.
