Obituary of Ivan Mark Albert Lovegrove

Ivan Mark Albert Lovegrove of Rothesay, NB, husband of V. Jean Lovegrove (nee Tonge), passed away August 27th, 2017 at Saint John, NB. Born on February 6th, 1926 in Bracebridge, ON and educated in Toronto, he was the youngest son of the late George W. and Edna (nee Leonard) Lovegrove. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Dwight Owen (Beth) Lovegrove of Hammonds Plains, NS and Dwayne Wesley (Beverly) Lovegrove of Clayton, ON; grandchildren, Darren and Jennifer Lovegrove; one sister, Leona Kenny and brother, Donald Saunders both residing in Ontario. Ivan served in the RCAF during the Second World War with Eastern Air Command and was a former member at large of the RCAF Association. He was a life member of the Professional Travellers Association of Canada as well as a former member of the LOL #2799 Castle Dawson Orange Lodge of Toronto. He was well known in the Atlantic Provinces and the Midwest of the United States representing Canada Cycle and Motor (CCM). Other business endeavours during his life included being the original owner of the Pictou Hardware Store, Pictou, NS, which was destroyed by fire on December 8th, 1960, owner of the Wentworth Valley Motel, NS as well as the IMA Lovegrove Sales Agency representing sporting goods manufacturers including CCM and Velo Sport. At the time of his retirement, Ivan was the Executive Branch Manager of Velo Sport of Canada for Ontario. As per Ivan’s wishes, no visitation or funeral service will be held. A private interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). In lieu of flowers, donations in Ivan’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, SJRH Foundation or to #527 Simonds Air Cadet Squadron.
