Obituary of Jessie Eleanor Capson

With great sadness the family of Jessie Eleanor (VanWart) Capson, loving wife of the late Douglas Capson, announce her sudden passing which occurred on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Jessie was born on February 2, 1931 in Saint John, to Frank and Alice (Orr) VanWart. In her younger years, Jessie had great passion for her career as a lab technician at the Red Cross, and later at the General Hospital, which she gave up to stay home and raise her family. Jessie loved camping, bird watching, shopping and gardening. She was a long-time member of the Fundy Dahlia Society, even serving as an accredited judge for floral competitions. Jessie had a great love for all animals, especially her cat Billy. She was strong in her faith, and regularly attended the Mission Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. Jessie’s greatest joy was her grandchildren: Jessie Rose, Jordan and Jaime and great-grandson, Clyde. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters: Eleanor Carson and Susan Logan (Kyle); sisters: Louise Belyea (Bob) and Anne Slipp; brother-in-law, Art Capson and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Jessie was also predeceased by her sisters: Carole Buckley and June Capson; brother-in-laws: George Slipp, and Jack Buckley. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 6 pm – 8 pm. A funeral service will be held from the Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, October 16, 2017 at 10 Am. Interment will follow at Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the SPCA/ Animal Rescue or Diabetes Canada.
