Obituary of Catherine Anne Savoie

Surrounded by her loving family, it is with profound sadness the family announces the death of Catherine Anne (O’Keefe) Savoie on Thursday, October 19, 2017, in the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a long battle with ovarian cancer. Born on April 19, 1959, Cathy was the beloved wife of Claude Savoie Jr. and the daughter of the late John P. and Therese (Melanson) O’Keefe. Cathy was predeceased earlier this year by her mother, Therese and her aunt Josephine Melanson. Cathy was a graduate of St. Vincent’s High School and received her B.Ed. from the University of New Brunswick. She began her teaching career at the Dr. William F. Roberts Hospital School followed by thirty years as a Special Needs/Methods and Resource teacher at Quispamsis Elementary School. Cathy was the heart of her family and was cherished by her son, Brian and daughter, Cara. She was a loving sister to John (Robyn Lyndsay) and Diane (Douglas Creamer) and was a devoted Godmother and special aunt to Mary and Jack Creamer and is survived by many other nieces and nephews. She will be missed deeply by her aunt, Bernadette Melanson, her brothers and sisters-in-law and numerous cousins. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506) 634-7424. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Oct 22nd, 2017 from 2:00 – 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St Pius X Church, 31 Somerset St, Saint John, NB, on Monday, October 23 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital, the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
