Obituary of Lois May Floyd

At the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, March 8, 2005, Lois May Floyd, R.N. passed away at age 82. She was born in Bloomfield, Kings County, NB, the elder daughter of Robert and Jessie (Cook) Floyd. She graduated from the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing in 1945 and was a life member of the S.J.G.H. School of Nursing Alumnae. She was a member of the N.B. Nurses' Association and the Canadian Nurses' Association. She retired after many years of service at both the General and Regional Hospitals. Lois organized the Nurses' Christian Fellowship at the General and remained involved with this group and the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship throughout her retirement. She was a long time member of Victoria St. and Main St. Baptist Churches. Lois supported missionaries in many parts of the world and brought much encouragement to individuals in her own loving way. She is survived by sister Janet Fowler at Saint John, brother Harold and nephew Robert Floyd of Belleville, Ontario, grand nephew James and grand niece Elyse Floyd of Oakville, Ontario. Throughout her career and private life Lois accumulated a large number of loyal and faithful friends. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Thursday, March 10, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral will be held on Friday, March 11, 2005 at Main St. Baptist Church, 211 Main St., Saint John at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in the family plot at Central Norton Baptist Cemetery, Bloomfield at a late date. Remembrances may be made to the Nurses' Christian Fellowship, Main St. Baptist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
