Obituary of Neil Clifford

It is with broken hearts that the family of Neil Clifford announce his passing, which took place on December 22, 2017 at Bobby’s Hospice. Neil was born on June 3, 1951 in Saint John and was predeceased by his parents Harold and Phyllis Clifford and brothers Colby and Harold "Ditter". Neil was a devoted family man, who cherished his loving wife Elaine (Porter); daughters Cherie Haas (JC), Julie Allen (Kevin), Haley Richard (Stephen) and grandchildren: Gabryel, Syenna and Xavyer. He will be greatly missed by his brothers Robert "Bobby" (Gloria) and Ronald "Chummy"; sisters Wanda McBriar (the late Monty) and Bonnie Lee (Jimmy), and Ditter’s wife Polly. Neil worked for 20 years with the Saint John Harbour Bridge Authority after completing 25 years as a lithographer at McMillan Press Ltd. In retirement Neil was a driver for Avis Rent-A-Car. With his passion for sports, he thoroughly enjoyed his 25 years as an off-ice official for the AHL and presently the QMJHL. He was a member of the Masonic Carleton Union Lodge #8 as well as a volunteer for many years with the Saint John Salvage Corps/Fire Police. His quiet manner, love of nature and all things sports will be fondly remembered by all who knew him and he will be truly missed. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The Funeral Service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 12:00 PM. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to Bobby’s Hospice or Romero House would be appreciated by the family.
