Ronald J. Arsenault

Obituary of Ronald E. J. Arsenault

It is with deep sadness that the family of Ronald Arsenault, loving husband of 40 years of Catherine (Hawkins) Arsenault, announces his passing which occurred on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Bobby’s Hospice surrounded by those he loved. Born in Saint John on August 3, 1951, he was a son of the late Edgar J. and Julie G. (Losier) Arsenault. Ron was the perfect example of an honest, caring, hard-working family man. He was a doting husband to Cathy, and a loving father to his girls. He had a friendly, easygoing personality and made many friends throughout his life. He was well-respected by his former coworkers at Irving Paper, and joined several of them for the retired men’s breakfasts that took place every third Wednesday of the month. He had a solid work ethic, and exceptional morals. He lived every day by the golden rule, and he and Cathy instilled these qualities in their daughters. Ron enjoyed the peacefulness of nature, being outside in the fresh air, and working in the fields and woods with his tractor and truck. In addition to his wife, Catherine, Ron will be missed by his beloved daughters: Jill Arsenault and Michelle Arsenault (Roger Legere); precious grandchildren, Clay, Ava, Shelby and Brittany; great grandchildren, Jaelyn and Lexi; his siblings, Norma Frost (John), Brenda Porter (Dale), Karen Chantler (Norman) and Keith Arsenault (Debbie); Mother-in-law, Doreen Hawkins; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Sherlene (Garnet), Sheila (Joe), Stuart (Geneva), Debbie (Doug), Rick (Wendy) and Beverly (Mike); many nieces, nephews and friends; and his cat, Molly. Ron was predeceased by his beautiful daughter Gale Arsenault in October, 2017; his parents; Father-in-law, Caldwell Hawkins and a brother, Roland Arsenault. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A celebration of Ron’s life will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 12:00 pm. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Bobby’s Hospice or Gentle Path Counselling.
