Obituary of Mary M. Simms
On April 25, 2005, Mary Mildred (Nairn) (Tait) Simms, passed away peacefully at Rocmaura Nursing Home, where she celebrated her 93rd birthday January 2, 2005 with her family. Born in 1912 to Herbert and Josephine (Duplessis) Nairn, she lived in Saint John her whole life. She was predeceased by her husbands William James Tait and Thomas Stockwell Simms. Over the years she cared for and took in to her home those family members and friends less fortunate than herself. An outgoing lady who loved to chat with everyone, her favorite meeting place in her later years was the Saint John City Market. She loved to walk, talk, travel and enjoy good company. Well liked by all who knew her, she was known for her quick wit, dry humor and excellent memory, which could be attested to by those with whom she traveled on bus trips. Left to celebrate her life are sons, Ronald (Judy), Gerald (Betty-Anne), Harold (Red), Glen (Dawn) and daughter-in-law Betty. She will also be missed by grandchildren Terri-Lynn, Carla, Susan, Paul, Gerald, Norman, Beth, Arlene, William, Glendon and Heather, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Survived also by stepsons, Thomas, Richard and Gordon. She was predeceased by her eldest son William Francis; brothers William, Percy and Harold; sisters Audrey and Marie. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, April 26, 2005 from 7-9 pm and Wednesday, April 27, 2005 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 28, 2005 from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception at 12 Noon. Following cremation interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB or the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation.
