Obituary of J. Paul Irving

IRVING, J. PAUL- The death of Joseph Paul Irving of Ridgewood Veteran's Wing, Saint John husband of Doreen H. (Byers) Irving, occurred on Thursday, April 27, 2005 at his residence. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Lloyd Thomas and Llydia Odessa (Jackson) Irving. Mr. Irving was a Veteran or the Korean War and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #2 (former member of Branch #14). He was a lifelong member of the Carleton York Regiment, the Main Brace Naval Veteran's Association, the Chevron Club and served with the Black Watch. Paul was employed with John Flood and Sons for several years before going to work in the Sanitation and Water Departments of the City of Saint John for 26 years before his retirement. Besides his wife, he is survived by, four sons, Joseph Paul Lloyd Irving (Cindy), Stacey Thane Donald Irving (Kathy), Reid George David Irving (Michelle Gordon) and Matthew Winston Irving, two daughters, Kathaleen Constance Katrina Irving (Norman McCarty) and Areatha Crystal Dawn Bridges (Glen) all of Saint John, three sisters, Josephine Stevens of Toronto, ON, Jennie Stevens of Saint John and Beatrice Smith (Pal) of the USA, many grandchildren, one great granddaughter, several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one daughter, Paula Irving-Robichaud and two brothers, Roy and Crosby Irving. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Friday, Saturday and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, May 2, 2005 at 11:00 AM. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery, Field of Honour. Remembrances to the charity of the donors' choice would be appreciated. The Royal Canadian Legion will hold a tribute to a Veteran service on Sunday at 7:45 PM at the funeral home.
