Obituary of Bill E. Duke
The death of Bill E. Duke of Saint John, occurred on Saturday, July 5th, 2003, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, Bill was the husband of the late Nellie (Munn) Duke and son of the late William Elliott and Minnie May (Currie) Duke. Bill was a Veteran of WWII serving in the Army Medical Corp., former member of Branch # 64 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Associate member of W.O. Sergeants Mess, was an avid collector of coins, baseball and hockey cards and was a frequent visitor at the Champlain Heights Irving. Bill is survived by three daughters: Bonnie Mason (George E.) and Heather Pitt (Russell) both of Saint John and Marlene Duke of Halifax, NS; three sons: Barry (Sandra), Danny (Marylou), Don (Joan) and one foster-son, Gary Brown, all of Saint John; three sisters: Fern Fudge of Saint John, Fay and Naomi Duke both of Ontario; one brother, Art Duke of Saint John; fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three sisters: Dorothy Watters, Alma MacFarlane and Tess Heuston and one brother, Calvin. Visitation will be held on Sunday and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506)634-7424. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 8th, 2003 at 11:00 AM, at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Garden's. Member's of the Royal Canadian Legion will be holding a tribute service on Monday night at 7:00 PM at Brenan's. In lieu of flowers, donation's may be made to the War Amps of Canada, Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation Inc., Canadian Red Cross or to any charity of the donor's choice.
