Obituary of Richard Anthony Paul Ritchie

Rick's death occurred suddenly at his residence on Friday, August 12th, 2005. Born in Saint John on March 18th, 1957, he was the son of the late Donald Ritchie and Marie (MacAuley) Totten. Rick was employed with the Canadian Blood Services (formally the Red Cross) for 28 years. He was a former Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council # 6595 and Past President of his Union C.U.P.E. Local 1655. Rick was a die-hard Habs fan. Rick is survived by his daughter: Jennifer (Joel) Ritchie; son: Scott (Amanda) Ritchie; and their mother and best friend: Janet Ritchie all of Saint John; his companion Tammy Britt Schonmann of Saint John; brother: Donald (Diane) of Saint John; sisters: Donna (Bob) Petrie of Leduc, AB, Carol (Frank) Short, Sylvia (Dave) Gunn, and Pat Ritchie all of Saint John; stepfather: Frank Totten of Saint John; his good friend: Diane Carr and many friends and colleagues and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his best friend John Carr. Rick will be sadly missed by all including his two pet cats Princess and Riley. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row Saint John, NB, 634-7424 with visitation on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Ann's Parish on Wednesday, August 17th, 2005 at 11 am. The internment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery following the Mass. The Knights of Columbus will hold prayers Tuesday at 7 pm during visitation. Remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
