Obituary of Charles Garfield Daley

The death of Charles Garfield Daley of Coldbrook Crescent, Saint John, husband of the late Vivian J. (Loeman) Daley, occurred on Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Saint John, he was one of 22 children of the late Edward Daley and Estella (Gray) (Daley) Spittle. Charles was a Guard at the St. John County Jail for many years before his retirement and following his retirement he was worked with Maritime Movers for several years. He was a member of the Carleton York Club and enjoyed bowling, darts and was an avid fisherman. He is survived by four daughters, Stella Byers (Norbert) of Saint John, Joyce Nickerson (Ron) of Rothesay, Nancy Perry (Doug) of Saint John and Margaret Lockhart (Stephen) of Saint John, two brothers, Richard “Dick” Daley (Pat) of Saint John and Donnie Daley of St. Martins, one sister, Ruth Trecartin of Saint John, 11 grandchildren, Veronica, Tracy, TJ, Bonnie, Mark, Andrew, Stacy, Kevin, Nicholas, Ashley and Stephanie, 7 great grandchildren, Samantha, Mikie, Jordon, Scottie, Austin, Abigail and Kaidense, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son, James, one granddaughter, Nicole and several brothers and sisters. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, September 2, 2005 at 11:00 AM. Interment in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to the Alzheimer's Society or the charity of the donors' choice would be appreciated.
