Obituary of Jean Elizabeth Shephard

The death of Jean Elizabeth Shephard, aged 90, resident of Red Head, wife of the late Donald R. K. Shephard, occurred peacefully at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, NS, on December 15, 2005. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Donald C. and Jennie S. (Finley) Malcolm. She was a graduate of Saint John High School before attending finishing school in Switzerland. She was employed as the receptionist-secretary with Dr. H. Bruce Parlee for over 35 years. She was a member of St. Andrew and St. David United Church and an adherent of the Presbyterian Churches of the East River Valley and Caledonia in Nova Scotia. She was a long-standing member serving in many posts with the Girl Guides of Canada. She was also a member of the NB Historical Society and the Naturalist Club. She is survived by her son Rev. Donald M. Shephard, daughter in law Debbie, of Springville, NS, and her daughter Martha M. Shephard of Scarborough, ON. Her brother Dr. Donald A. C. Malcolm predeceased her. She will be missed by niece Candace E. Gibbon (Stephen), nephews James B. Malcolm and John D. Malcolm (Sue) and lifelong friend Dorothea Schofield. Following cremation the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2005, at 1:00 pm, from St. Andrew and St. David United Church, Germain Street, Saint John. Interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances made to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
