Obituary of Joseph Donat Basque

BASQUE, J. DONAT- The death of Joseph Donat Basque of 35 Spring Street, Saint John, husband of Julia (McLaughlin) Basque, occurred on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Tracadie, St. Irene, NB, he was the son of the late Edmond and Delina Basque. Mr. Basque was a woodsman and was a member of Holy Trinity Parish. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Donald (Bev Cormier) and Ricky (Cora) both of Saint John, seven daughters, Bernice Muise (Jim) of Grand Manan, Pat McDowell (Art Stratton), Sandra Vautour (Darrell), Odette Vautour (Blake Hillman), all of Saint John, Melinda Basque (Ronald Beniot) of Tracadie, Barbara Dickens (Brian Doucette) and Sharon Henderson (Danny) both of Saint John, two brothers, Alcide and Alyre (Germaine) both of Miramichi, five sisters, Jemma Perry (Vernon) of Grand Bay-Westfield, Maria McLaughlin, Claudette Basque (Clarence) both of Saint John, Mary Govieau (Mack) and Veronica Savard, both of the Miramichi, sister-in-law, Melina Basque, 20 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Albaine and one sister, Eileen Kelly. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Church, Rockland Road on Friday, January 6, 2006 at 12:00 Noon. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick would be appreciated.
