Obituary of Berton L. Quinn

With sadness we announce the death of Berton L. Quinn who passed away after a lengthy illness at his residence on Wednesday, January 18, 2006. He was born in Chatham, NB and lived in Saint John all of his life. He was a son of the late Frank and Kathleen (McGrath) Quinn. Bert was a member of Local #771 Firefighters Union, retiring after 35 years as District Chief in 1988. He was also a member of the R.O.A.B. Lodge. His interests were camping at Pine Cone Camp Ground and playing Cribbage. He is survived by his wife Margaret (Cogswell) Quinn; two sisters Rita McDermott of Toronto, ON and Betty Hanson of Sussex, NB; sister in-law Laura Quinn of Saint John and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister, Margaret Horgan and one brother, Thomas Quinn both of Saint John. He will be missed by his many friends from Pine Cone and Three Bears Campground, Daly's Coffee Shop and special friends: Ken Langan, Ed Whalen, Mel Buchanan, and Eric Giovannitti. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday at 9:30 am. Following cremation interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens at a later date. Remembrances may be made to the Saint John Regional Hospital Burn Unit, the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donors' choice.
