Obituary of Myrtle Bernice Snare

SNARE, (Currie), Myrtle Bernice - 80, Passed away quietly into the arms of God on January 22, 2006 in the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a long but courageous battle with cancer. Born in Saint John on September 29,1925, Myrtle was the eldest child of the late Bernice (Taylor) and Ronald Currie. She left school at 16 to help support her family. She apprenticed with Louis Delvallet at the French Pastry Shop on King and Charlotte Street where she became the cake decorator for many years. Myrtle later went on to work for Vern's Bakery and the Odeon Theatre. She always enjoyed working with the public where her sense of humor made her many friends over the years. Myrtle is survived by her sisters Lois Currie, Quispamsis, NB, Lillian (Robert) Cable, Etobicoke, ON and brothers Norman, Orillia, ON and Sterling, ”Reg”(Marcie), Moncton, NB, her dear cousin, Murray (Doris), Carpenter, Rothesay, NB, as well as 16 nieces, nephews and great-grand niece, Emma. She was also blessed with many wonderful neighbors and friends. Myrtle was predeceased by her husband, William (Bill) Snare as well as brothers, Ronald, Robert, and as infants, Raymond and Cecil. We wish to extend sincere thanks to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit, Saint John Regional Hospital for the care and compassion they showed Myrtle during her stay with them. We would also like to acknowledge the professional assistance she received from the staff of the Extra-mural hospital. In her last few years, Myrtle's family & neighbors surrounded her with affection and security. She was well loved and looked after. Funeral Services are under the care of Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Funeral service and burial to take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital, Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the Donors choice.
