Obituary of Velma Jane Gillies

The death of Velma Jane Gillies of Saint John, NB, wife of the late Walter "Sparky" Gillies, occurred on Thursday, June 15, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Maine, USA a daughter of the late Everett and Jennie Ella (McLaughlin) Crocker. Survived by two sons, Arnold Wayne (Gwen) Gillies of Saint John and David Walter Gillies of Fredericton, NB; a sister, Amy Amero of Bangor, Maine; three grandchildren, Billy, Carrie and Jennie; four great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Alyssa, Abigail and Devon. Velma was predeceased by her parents and husband, as well as, two sisters, Grace Zuppa and Doris Berg and two brothers, Lawrence and Vinal Crocker. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held from Brenan's Chapel on Monday, June 19, 2006 at 1pm. Interment will be in McAdam Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or a charity of the donor's choice.
