Obituary of Elsie M. Hedberg

Hedberg, Elsie M. – after a short battle with cancer, Elsie Mary (Newman) Hedberg, passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, July 1, 2006 at the age of 84. Born in Saint John, NB, she was a daughter of the late Mary (Savoie) and John Newman. Elsie worked for 23 years at Centra Care in the dietary department until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of St. John the Baptist (Mission Church) & St. Clement and the Guild of St. Monica. For most of her life she was a resident of the lower west side of Saint John, NB. She is survived by her loving children, Carol Hedberg and Gerald Hedberg both of Saint John; grandchildren, Shawn and Tanya Hedberg; sisters, Lily King and Muriel Chase both of Saint John; several nieces and nephews. Elsie was predeceased by her brothers, Earle, John, Herman and Albert; sisters, Eva and Betty. By request there will be no visiting. Following cremation a memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2006 from St. John the Baptist (Mission Church) & St. Clement, 815 Millidge Ave. at 1:00 pm. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
