Obituary of Harold L. Floyd

Harold Lawson Floyd passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital, with Nancy, his wife of 62 years at his side. He is survived by five children, Marcia Sherwood (Carl) of Rothesay, Vicki McBurney (Campbell) of Ottawa, ON, Douglas (Ellen) of Saint John, Peter (Bev) of Quispamsis and Stephen (Sally) of Ottawa, ON, 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, two sisters, Marion Armstrong of Ontario and Evelyn Carleton of Rothesay, one brother, Vernon Floyd of Woodstock, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest L. and Gertrude A. (Dixon) Floyd and one brother, Lawrence of Barnesville. Harold was a loyal employee to Bruce Lawson Contractors for 32 years, a longtime member of the Carpenters Union 1386 and a veteran of World War II. He was church elder and trustee at St. John & St. Stephen Church. Harold was a member of the Seaside Lawn Bowling Club and a member of the Seniors Monday afternoon League at the Bowlarama West. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at the Saint John Regional Hospital (particularly the Palliative Care Unit) for their compassionate and loving care of Harold and their warmth and consideration for his family. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Memorial service will be held at the Church of St. John & St. Stephen, Coburg Street, on Saturday, August 5, 2006 at 11:00 AM, with a reception to immediately follow in the church hall. A private family interment will take place at the Barnesville Presbyterian Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church of St. John & St. Stephen or a charity of the donors’ choice.
