Obituary of Mary Julia Basque

The death of Mary Julia Basque of Saint John, NB, wife of the late Joseph Donat Basque, occurred on Saturday, September 2, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Tracadie, St. Irene, NB, a daughter of the late Fabien and Emilie (Drisdelle) McLaughlin. Survived by two sons: Donald Basque (Bev Cormier) and Ricky (Cora) Basque, both of Saint John; seven daughters: Bernice (Jim) Muise of Grand Manan, NB, Pat McDowell (Art Stratton) of Saint John, Sandra (Darrell) Vautour of Saint John, Odette Vautour (Blake Hillman) of Saint John, Melinda Basque (Ronald Benniot) of Tracadie, Barbara (Brian) Doucette of Saint John and Sharon (Danny) Henderson of Saint John; one brother, Aurele (Jeanette) McLaughlin of Tracadie; two sisters: Lena (Madric) Benoit and Mellie (Alvida) Benoit, both of Tracadie; twenty grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, J. Donat Basque (January 2006); one sister, Olive Sonier; four brothers, Rheal McLaughlin, Edmund Sonier, Judis McLaughlin and Jim McLaughlin. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Holy Trinity Church, Rockland Road, Saint John, on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at 12 noon. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or a charity of the donor’s choice.
