Obituary of Florence Pearl Van Tassel

The death of Florence Pearl Van Tassel, wife of the late James Lovett Van Tassel, occurred on September 5, 2006 at the St. John & St. Stephen Church Home. Born at Mira Ferry, Cape Breton, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Ferguson) MacLean. She began her career as a Nursing Aid in Kingston, ON, before moving to Saint John were she was employed with Centracare Inc. and retired from the Turnbull Home. She is survived by her son John ‘Skip’ Allan Van Tassel, daughter-in-law Evelyn Van Tassel, granddaughters Judy Van Tassel (Donald Brown), Lyn Van Tassel (Jamie McCormick), great-grandsons Michael McCoy, Mitchell Brown, sister Grace Oldford, sister-in-law Jessie MacLean, and brother-in-law William Van Tassel (Vi) and several nieces and nephews. Her step-mother Margaret, brothers Lauchie, Murray and John, sister Margaret and 4 sisters in infanthood predeceased her. Resting at Brenans Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday at a 11:00 am Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances made to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
