Obituary of John Francis Morrison

The death of John Francis “Chuck” Morrison of Saint John, husband of 56 years to A. Elizabeth “Betty” (Driscoll) Morrison, occurred following a brief illness, on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on August 1, 1928, he was the son of the late Daniel and Mary Edith (Semple) Morrison. Chuck was employed in the electrical business by H. M. Hoppers Co. Ltd., Thornes Ltd. and with Burndy Inc. for 29 years before retiring as District Sales Manager in 1992. He was a former member of United Commercial Travelers #755. Always interested in sports, he played rugby, basketball, hockey, Jr. baseball and curling. He enjoyed his annual trips to Clearwater, Florida during spring training, where he made many acquaintances. Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Jo-Ann Folkins (Andrew) of Saint John, Beth Farrah (Kim) of Fredericton and Nancy Taylor (Arnold) of Saint John, one brother, Daniel Morrison (Hazel) of Loch Lomond, seven grandchildren, Jill and Jeffrey Folkins, Matthew, Katherine and Meaghan Farrah, Laura and Sarah Taylor, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church, Somerset Street, Saint John on Saturday, September 16, 2006 at 10:00 AM. Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Remembrances to the Kidney Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association or the Extra Mural Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
