Obituary of Theresa Elizabeth Lawless

LAWLESS, THERESA E.- With great sadness, the family of Theresa Elizabeth (McNamee) Lawless announces her passing. Aunt Theresa died in the Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, October 1, 2006, after suffering a stroke at her home in the Loch Lomond Villa. Theresa was born January 10, 1914 to the late John and Mary (Murphy) McNamee. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lorne F. Lawless (1992), infant brother Joseph, infant sister Catherine; her sisters, Blandid Daley (1981) and Sister Eleanore McNamee (1999) of the Sisters of Charity, nephew Frank Daley Jr. (1993) and niece Theresa Hazelwood (2003). Theresa graduated from St. Vincent’s High School and the Provincial Normal School. She went on to teach in numerous schools throughout the province. Theresa had a real love for children, especially her many nieces and nephews through the generations, to whom for many she was like a grandmother. Left to mourn her are: nieces Eleanore Kelley (John) of Quispamsis and Elizabeth Brownlow (Pat) of Halifax, NS; grandnieces, Melissa Parkinson (Duane) of Dartmouth, NS, Shawna Black (Mike) {children Madalyn, Gabby and Karson} of Saint John, Amanda Foote (Andy) of Smithtown and Bridget Brownlow (Bernie) {son Darcy} of Halifax, NS; grandnephews, Sean Kelley {daughter Julia} of Quispamsis, Christian Kelley (Rhonda) {son Jackson} of Hampton, Daniel Daley (Jennifer) of Pennsylvania, USA and Daniel Brownlow (Krista) of Halifax, NS. Aunt Theresa is also survived by her dear friend and cousin, Theresa Moore; sisters-in-law, Helen Owens of Dartmouth, NS and Helen Lawless of Quispamsis and a large Lawless clan on Prince Edward Island. She will be missed by her good and kind friend, Dot Hatfield of Rothesay and a large circle of card playing friends. Also missing Auntie will be the 3 four-legged furry friends that she loved, Gary, Benji and Gertie. Aunt Theresa will be resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Ann’s Church, Saint John on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at 11:00 AM. Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In Theresa’s memory, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick would be appreciated. Rest in Peace “T”, XOX
