Obituary of Mary Kathleen 'Kay' O'Connor

The death of Mary Kathleen ‘Kay’ O’Connor occurred peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving family, on October 20, 2006, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on March 10, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Frances (Dever) Holmes. She was a loving mother and best friend to her daughters and grandchildren Terri, Mary and her husband Brad, Kathy, Katie, Ryan, Daniel and Allison, all of Saint John. She was an employee of Irving Oil Ltd. and previous to that was a loving stay at home mother. Besides her daughters and grandchildren she is survived by her brothers Donald (Bonnie) Holmes, Alfred (Betty) Holmes and Peter (Debbie) Holmes, all of Saint John, along with several nieces and nephews. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, at 11:00 am, from St. John the Baptist Church. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Remembrances made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Saint John Animal Rescue league would be appreciated.
