Obituary of Roy H. Kilcup

Kilcup, Roy H. … After a lengthy illness, the death of Roy Hector Kilcup, in his 92nd year, formerly of Sussex, NB, occurred on Monday, October 30, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John he was a son of the late Hector and Bessie (King) Kilcup. Roy was a superb baker who worked for many years at the French Pastry in Saint John. After moving to Fredericton, he continued his profession at Brown’s Bakery and later at the Goody Shop, from where he retired at the age of seventy-five. Roy had a wry sense of humor. He loved his cats, his stamps and his solitude. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Roy is survived by one brother, Ralph Kilcup of Sussex; four nieces: Brenda Breen of Saint John; Dianne (Douglas) Carlisle of Keswick Ridge; Karen (Danny) Foster of Keswick; Betty Kilcup of Saint John; two nephews: Jack Kilcup of Saint John; Kevin Kilcup of Halifax; several great-nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by brother, Gerald A. Kilcup and nephew Gerald W. Kilcup. By request there will be no visiting. Following cremation there will be a memorial service on Wednesday, November 1, 2006, at 2:15 pm from Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (634-7424). Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
