Obituary of John Gray Sparkes

The death of John Gray Sparkes, husband of 65 years to Mabelle (Haywood) Sparkes, occurred on November 28, 2006 at the Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing. Born in Sackville, NB, he was the son of the late Arthur and Freda (Gray) Sparkes. He served overseas as an instructing sergeant with the Canadian Army during WWII and has belonged to the RCL Branch #58. He was a charter member of the River Valley Wesleyan Church. He taught high school math in the Greater Chicago Area. Besides his wife he is survived by his daughters Jacqueline Davis (Larry) of Naples, FL, Saundra MacKenzie (Stuart) of Long Point, NB, sister Florence Noiles (Earl) of Amherst, NS, grandchildren Kelly, Dusty, Laury, D. Grant, Morgan, Hannah, Dylan 8 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Sister Sybil Smith predeceased him. Resting at Brenans Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am from Brenans Chapel, followed by cremation. Remembrances made to the Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing would be appreciated by the family.
