Obituary of Donald Buck

Buck, Donald (Don), FRICS The death of Donald Buck occurred peacefully after a lengthy illness on morning of November 29, 2006 at St, Joseph’s Hospital. Born in Milford Haven, Wales, December 14, 1922 to Mary (McLean) and Ernest James Buck. Survived by his wife Mary (Liz), daughters Helen and Judy Gallant (Tom), grandchildren Elizabeth Ball, Montreal, Peter Ball, Halifax, Chyloe Gallant, Halifax, twin sisters Peggy and Betty, in England, and several nieces and nephews. Served as a navigator with RAF during WW II in Europe and India. Completed his education as a Chartered Surveyor in London England worked with the building of Harlow New Town in Essex, England. He came to Canada in 1953 to work for the Canadian Government in establishing CMHC and worked in Winnipeg, Regina and Ottawa. In 1961 came to work for the City of Saint John with the Planning Department as a Redevelopment Officer in the Urban Renewal Program. As a member of the Rotary Club at the time he was a founding member of the Committee that formed the Rotary Boys Choir. After retirement in 1983 was an avid golfer and continued to play regularly. He and his wife traveled extensively in Europe and across Continental North America. Respecting Don’s wish there will be no visiting or funeral service. Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), entrusted with the arrangements. The family will welcome friends to share memories and music at the family residence, 64 Dufferin Avenue, on Sunday, December 3, 2006 from 2-5 pm.
