Obituary of John Gilbert Ross

ROSS, JOHN G.- The death of John Gilbert Ross of 137 Kennebecasis Drive, Saint John, husband of Nancy (Giggey) Ross, occurred on Saturday, December 23, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Woodstock, NB, he was the son of the late Frank L. and Winnifred L. (Dickinson) Ross. Mr. Ross was a School Teacher and the coordinator of the Industrial Educational Program for School District #20 for many years before his retirement. He was a Past Master of the New Brunswick Lodge F. & A.M., member of the Kinsmen Club (K 40), past Sunday School Superintendent of St. Clement’s Church, member and past Steward of Portland United Church and volunteered with Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing, the Saint John Food Banks and Boy Scouts of Canada. John enjoyed woodworking and spending his summers on Kennebecasis Island. He will be sadly missed. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Margot Dann (Malcolm) of Hampton and Dr. Sheri Ross (Graham Bateman) of San Diego, CA, USA, one granddaughter, Kendra Dann, one sister, Frances Lee of Bayswater, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Richard McCormack and one sister, Ann Peer. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Portland United Church on Thursday, December 28, 2006 with visiting from 12:00 Noon until service time at 1:00 PM. Interment in Fernhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to Hospice of Saint John, Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or Portland United Church choice would be appreciated by the family. The Masonic Lodge will hold a tribute service on Wednesday at 7:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
