Obituary of Joseph ‘Henry’ George Bisson

Bisson, Joseph ‘Henry’ George The death of Henry Bisson, husband of Ruby E. (Kierstead) (Pattman) Bisson, occurred on November 9, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Grosse Isle, Quebec he was the son of the late George and Charlotte (Sheppard) Bisson. His father was in the Department of Immigration and the family lived on Partridge Island before moving to Saint John. Between 1940-42 he belonged to the 15th Service Battery in Saint John at the Partridge Island Garrison. Henry joined the Canadian Army in 1942 serving with the North Shore Regiment in France, Belgium and Holland, being wounded in battle, before returning to Saint John. He worked at Magee’s grocery, National Packing and the Dominion Store and was with the Corps of Commissionaires for 19 years. He was a member of 53 Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. He is survived by his children Timothy Bisson (Crystal) of Kingston, ON, Cathy Duncan (Michael) of Turtle Creek, NB, James Pattman (Deborah) of Saint John, Paul Pattman (Debra) of Saint John, Kevin Pattman (Shirley) of Quispamsis, sister Alice Johnson (Cameron) of Ottawa, ON, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Betty Proulx, sister Georgianna and his first wife Edith. Resting at Brenans Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Sunday from 7-9 pm and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion will hold a Tribute to a Veteran Service at 7:00 pm on Monday. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, at 11:00 am, from Brenans Chapel followed by interment at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances to the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
