Obituary of J. Albert Guitard

Guitard, J. Albert “Al” - June 12th, 1949-2008. After a courageous battle with cancer, it is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Albert on April 1, 2008, at his residence. Born in Belledune, NB, he was a son of the late Delphis and Rosanna (Haché) Guitard. Albert was a welder by trade and worked at the Saint John Shipbuilding for 18 years and finished his career at Bourques Industrial. Albert had many interests, hunting, fishing, golfing, playing guitar with his brothers and sisters, but most of all he had a passion for bowling. He was a very competitive bowler and enjoyed a good game. He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Geraldine; one daughter, Sonia (Darrell) of Moncton, NB; six brothers, Walter of Montreal, QC, Norman (Carmen) of St. Catharine’s, ON, Emile (Georgette) of Chibougamou, QC, Leandre (Annette) and Phillippe (Albina), both of Dalhousie, NB and Alvin (Bertha) of Belledune, NB; six sisters, Claudette Doyle (Gary) of Saint John, Marie Moulton of St. Stephen, Jeannette Guitard and Martina Celeste, both of Montreal, Alice LaPointe of Dalhousie, Pearl Guitard (Abraham) of Petit Rocher; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Carmeline Fournier and Florence Thibodeau, and two brothers, Raymond and Maurice Guitard. Special thanks to Sharon, his caregiver for taking such good care of Albert; Extra Mural and Hospice for helping our family during this very difficult time. Special thanks to volunteer, Bill Murphy and his buddies, Alcide and Jean for spending time with Albert each week. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday April 3, 2008 from 3-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Paroisse St-Francois-de-Sales, 291 Boars Head Road, Saint John on Friday April 4, 2008 at 11:30 am. Cremation will follow. At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the Saint John Regional Hospital Extra Mural Program or Hospice of Saint John.
