Obituary of Oswald T. Goddard

Goddard, Dr. Oswald “Ossie” T. …The death of Dr. Oswald T. Goddard of Saint John, NB, husband of Joyce (Miller) Goddard, occurred on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Trinidad on January 8, 1934, he was a son of the late Alfred and Pauline (O’Keiffe) Goddard. Ossie graduated from St. Mary’s College in Trinidad, McGill University and University of Montreal with a degree in Optometry and practiced optometry for over 33 years in Saint John. He was a member and past-president of the Westfield Golf Club and was a member of the Rothesay Tennis Club. A dignified gentleman, who was a real people person, he loved dancing and was an avid reader, golfer and enjoyed music. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; three daughters, Janice Goddard of Montreal, QC, Jennifer Sheppard and Heather Goddard, both of Vancouver, BC; four sisters, Marie Gill, Josephine Bell, and Gwendolyn Quincy, all of Trinidad, and Edna Murray (Winston) of Tobago; five grandchildren, Reynall Garnett, Tamla Murray, Emily, Joy and Benjamin Sheppard; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by four brothers, Victor, Reginald, Alfred Jr. and George; four sisters, May O’Keiffe, Yvonne Loobie, Geraldine Goddard and Daphine Bramar. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 2:30 pm. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery at a later date. Remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick.
