Obituary of F. Avis Morgan

After a courageous battle with cancer, Avis Morgan, wife of Dr. Leonard I. Morgan, passed away on April 9, 2009 at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Douglas and Frances Waddell. Avis was predeceased by her only daughter, Lynn, in 2002. She is survived by six sons, John (Julie Scriver) of Fredericton, Bob (Joanne Chiasson) of Saint John, Stephen of St. Andrews, David (Mary Ann) of Saint John, Tim (Gina Gagnon) of Chicoutimi, QC and Jeff (Lugene Blando) of Fredericton; fourteen grandchildren, Christine (Jason Ahearn), Max, Wendy (Joe Harriman), Ben, Liam, Lesley, Alice, Leigh, Francie, Mike, Laura, Eric, Ava and Thomas; one great grandchild, Rachael Ahearn and three sisters, Jean (Doug) McAllister of Vacaville, California, Ann Shaw of Victoria, BC and Barbara Stevens of Moncton, NB. She was a first class lady whose love of life and enthusiasm were gifts she shared with everyone. She never lost that spirit and her courage and selflessness has been an inspiration to the whole extended family. Avis was a member of Portland United Church, the Riverside Golf and Country Club, and the RKYC where she and Len enjoyed many years sailing the St. John River and the Bay of Fundy. She also enjoyed many summers in the Epworth Park summer community and was a member of the Isle of Pines. Visitation will be at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) from 7 to 9 pm on Saturday and 2 to 4 pm on Sunday. The funeral will take place at Portland United Church (50 Newport Crescent) at 2 pm on Monday, April 13, 2009. Interment will follow at Fernhill Cemetery (Westmorland Road).
