Oliver, W. Floyd … The family of W. Floyd Oliver, husband of Nora (Gauvin) Oliver, sadly announces his passing on Friday, April 24, 2009 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Saint John on December 20, 1935 he was a son of the late John Francis “Frank” and Mary Catherine (Simpson) Oliver. He had a life long career operating heavy equipment and working in various aspects of construction, with many years at Galbraith Construction. Floyd enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved riding his Harley trike. An excellent husband, dad and grampy, he will be sadly missed by his wife of 53 years, Nora the love of his life; his proud children, Frank (Kathy) Oliver, Janice Oliver (John Donovan), Roxanne (Donald) Cole, of Acamac, NB, and Eileen (Michael) Palmer of Grand Bay … Westfield, NB; six grandchildren, Tracy, Tanya, Troy, Ben, Michelle and Floyd; five great-grandchildren, Luke, Curtis, Jessica, Carter and Kelsey; three brothers, Harris of Portland, ME, Leo (Mike) of Montreal, QC and Jack (Pat) of Saint John; one sister, Mary Earle of Saint John; several nieces and nephews. He was loved and respected by many, but especially his family. He was predeceased by a daughter, Shirley Agnes Oliver and three brothers, Joe, Greg and Allan. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424. At the request of Floyd there will not be any visiting. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 360 Dufferin Row on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 12:00 noon.
