Obituary of Frederica Florence Trenholm

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Frederica (Freda) Florence Trenholm in the Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital on August 13, 2009. She was born on November 4, 1918 in Ramsgate, Kent County, England to the late Frederick and Frederica (Crickett) Shear. She was the wife of the late Bill Trenholm. Freda was a very caring and giving person. She served her family, neighbours and community with a special kindness. She delivered Meals on Wheels at Loch Lomond Villa until she was no longer able. Freda was an avid bridge player for most of her life and played many other card games with her many friends. She was a member of All Saints Anglican Church for 70 years and was on the Altar Guild there for many years. Freda is survived by two daughters, Donna Duffy (Frank) of Mississauga, ON and Linda Cormier (Skip) of Saint John; two sisters, Audrey Crawford of Toronto and Norma Trecarten (Lew) of Ottawa; two grandchildren, Kelly McDonald (Peter) of Port Credit, ON and Bryan Duffy (Ofelia) of Mississauga; and one great granddaughter, Ava McDonald, and many special nieces and nephews. Freda is also survived by step family members Mary, Takoda and Ciara Sullivan, and Chris Plimmer; Thelma Cormier; and Geoff and Jacob Cormier. Besides her husband and parents, Freda was predeceased by her sister Winnie Barnes. Family and friends will miss Freda’s great spirit, determination, wonderful wit, and the selfless way she lived her life. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 on Sunday, August 23, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 24, 2009 from Brenan’s Chapel at 11:30 am, immediately followed by a reception at Brenan’s. A private family interment will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery following the reception. Remembrances can be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital, Romero House or the charity of the donor’s choice.
