Obituary of F. Brian Best

F. Brian Best of Saint John, and formerly of Montreal and Ottawa, husband of M. Patricia (LeCouffe) Best, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2009 at his residence. Born at Montreal, QC, he was a son of the late Harry and Kathleen (Cantwell) Best. An active member of his parishes wherever he lived, Brian was devout in his service to his church in many capacities. He enjoyed singing and sailing and other hobbies, but his greatest love was his family. In addition to his wife of 56 years, Brian is survived by his children, Catherine McBride (Tony) of Kingston, Ontario, Patrick Best of Toronto, and Margaret Ann Trafton (Aaron) of Saint John; grandchildren Laura Best and Trevor Best of Toronto, and Cathleen Trafton of Saint John; a brother, M. Kevin Best (Marie) of Montreal; a sister-in-law, Muriel Best of Montreal; and several nieces and nephews. Brian was predeceased by brothers Harry, Pat, and Bill. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday from 4-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 AM from St. Pius X Church, 316 Somerset Street, Saint John.
