Obituary of L. M. Pete Donovan

Lawrence Morris “Pete” Donovan of Saint John, husband of Lois Marilyn (Irwin) Donovan, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 10, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Saint John on March 23, 1933, he was a son of the late Morris and Pearl (Slovitt) Donovan. Pete worked at the Telegraph Journal and Evening Times Globe for 25 years, and subsequently drove the airport shuttle for Diamond Taxi. He was a member of the Saint John Press Club, and enjoyed bowling and playing hockey and baseball in his younger days. In addition to his wife of 55 years, Pete is survived by his children, Michael Donovan (Erin) of Old Lyme, Connecticut, Cathy Basque (Dave) of London, Ontario, Debbie Morrell (Dave) of Saint John, James Donovan (Marie-Mai) of Saint John, Ken Donovan (Cheryl) of Saint John, and Peter Donovan (Laura) of Colchester, Connecticut; 16 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; a brother, Arnold Donovan (Marge) of Quispamsis; sisters Alice Johnson of Saint John, Barb Boucher (Don) of Saint John, and Lauren Bouchard (Joe) of Fredericton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Pete was predeceased by a brother, Bill Donovan. Although there will be no visiting, relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service, which will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2010 at 2:00 PM from Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Interment will take place at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances to the Parkwood Hospital Neurological Rehabilitation Program would be appreciated by the family.
