Obituary of Claire Harris

Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Saint John on February 6, 1947, she was the wife of Warren Harris and the daughter of Beatrice Osborne and the late Leslie Osborne. Claire was the beloved wife, best friend and one true love of Warren. Claire was a strong, selfless woman who always gave unconditional love to her family. She cherished time spent with her six grandchildren who adored their Granna. Claire had a special relationship with her mother, Bea, who was her kindred spirit. She was a genuinely kind and caring person who had the ability to always see the good in others. She enjoyed spending time in her flower garden, listening to music, camping, snowmobiling, traveling, reading and organizing family gatherings at the pool. She worked for many years as provincial campaign coordinator for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Claire was a member of the Red Head United Church UCW Group. She is survived by her loving husband, Warren; one son, David Harris (Kathy) and their children, William and Lauren; two daughters, Shelley Harris-Weir (Chris) and their children, Jackson and Alexandria; Sherry Harris-Murray (Ian) and their children, Duncan and Emma; mother, Beatrice Osborne; two sisters, Janis Maguire (Greg) and Gail Malone (Wayne); mother-in-law, Lena Harris; three sisters-in-law, Caroline Smith (Tony), Noeline Smith (Fraser) and Loretta Reynolds; one brother-in-law, Brian Harris (Jean); several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her father, Leslie Osborne and her father-in-law, Frank Harris; two brothers-in-law, Ross and Paul Reynolds. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Friday, March 11, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 11:00 am from the Church of the Good Shepherd, Manawagonish Road. Following the service family and friends are invited to attend a reception at the Red Head United Church Hall.
