Obituary of Mary Annie Dorothy Green

Mary Annie Dorothy Green (Amos) of Saint John, wife of the late Nelson William Green, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born at Amostown, New Brunswick on December 28, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Harry C. and Merle Alma (O’Donnell) Amos. Mary spent her early years on the Miramichi where she was born, and moved with her husband and family to Saint John in 1950. She was a member of St. Luke’s Anglican Church, and active in the Women’s Auxiliary of the church when she was able. Mary enjoyed knitting and crotchet, quilting, and cooking, never letting anyone leave her home hungry. Her last years were spent at Seely’s Lodge and Rocmaura Nursing Home, where she received wonderful care, and for which her family is very grateful. Mary is survived by her children, Betty MacGowan (Darrell) of Saint John and Nelson Green, Jr. (Mary) of Allison, NB; grandchildren Steven Ouellette (Mary-Anne) of London, ON, Raymond Ouellette (Julie Stapleton) of London, England, Debra Ouellette of Saint John, Angela Duplessis (Michael) of Saint John, Kevin Ouellette of Vancouver, Pat Green (Donna) of St. Paul, NB, and Julie Reale (Frank) of Mississauga, ON; eleven great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; a sister, Bernice Robinson (Ben) of Shediac; a sister-in-law, Helen Amos of Doaktown; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband, Mary was predeceased by a son-in-law, Ivan Ouellette; brothers James, Cyril, and Willard Amos; and sisters Zaida Saunders, Myrtle Doak, and Muriel Smith. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The funeral service will be held from St. Luke’s Anglican Church, 369Main Street, on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances to Alzheimer’s Research, Rocmaura Foundation, St. Luke’s Anglican Church, or to any charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
