Obituary of Wilfred Laurier Rouse

The death of Wilfrid L. Rouse of Saint John, NB, husband of the late Mary B. (Jordan) Rouse, occurred on Saturday, May 15, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Halifax, NS on December 21, 1916 a son of the late James Leary Rouse and Mary Florence (Murphy) Rouse. He had served in the Canadian Army Ordinance Corps during the Second World War; was an avid sports fan, a member of the Halifax Junior Canadians, numerous baseball and softball teams in Halifax and had coached the Dieppe Junior Cardinals. Survived by two sons, Allan (Diane) Rouse of Saint John and James Rouse of Moncton, NB; a daughter-in-law, Pat Rouse of Dieppe, NB; seven grandchildren, David of Toronto, ON, Elizabeth of Montreal, PQ, Lisa and Stephen of Dieppe, NB, Andrew, Erin and Colin of Saint John and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a son, Terrance and five brothers, Clifford, Louis, Albert, Aubrey and Bernard. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506) 634-7424. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, 5455 Russell Street, Halifax, NS on Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at 12 noon. Interment will follow the service in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville, NS. Remembrances may be made to the Saint John High School Centennial Fund, the Christopher Court Scholarship Fund or a charity of the donor's choice. A reception will be held on Thursday evening, May 20, 2004 from 7-9 pm at the home of Allan and Diane Rouse in Saint John.
