Obituary of Hartley Loeman
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Hartley T. Loeman of Saint John, which occurred on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on February 24, 1930 he was a son of the late James and Vera (Sabean) Loeman. Hartley retired as plant manager from Red Rose Tea – Thomas J. Lipton. He was a very loving and devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Hartley enjoyed harness racing, darts, and spending time at his camper at the Pirates Cove Trailer Park in Belleisle, NB for the past 20 years. He was a member of the Carleton York Dart Club. Hartley loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He is survived by his children, Steven (Carmel) of Rothesay; Debbie Gidney of Saint John; Terry (Dean) Loeman-Hansen of Saint John; Christopher (Eleanor) of Saint John and their mother, Lorraine Loeman (Carlin); six grandchildren, Andrea, Amanda, Shaina, Jordan, Alexander and Gabrielle; four great-grandchildren, Madison, Bailey, Michael and Tanaiya; one brother, Robert of Saint John and one sister, Margaret Crouse of Saint John; several nieces and nephews and special thanks to Carol Long for being a great companion and caregiver for many years. Predeceased by brothers, Arnold, Ronald and William; sisters, Vivian, Nancy and Connie. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 from 7-9 pm and Thursday, December 15, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 16, 2011 at 12 noon from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment in Fernhill Cemetery. Following the interment a reception will be held at Rothesay Vineyard, 20 Milennium Drive, Quispamsis. For those who wish remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Lung Association or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
