Obituary of Eileen Mary Christina Mantin

MANTIN, Eileen Mary Christina With great sadness and heavy hearts, the family of Eileen Mary Christina Mantin, wife of the late Donald Patrick Dennis Mantin, announces her death on Thursday Feb. 9, 2012. Eileen passed away peacefully, yet unexpectedly at home with her daughter Regina and her faithful companion Rufus at her side. Eileen was born on a ship between St. Pierre et Miquelon, and Grand Banks, NL on June 26, 1922. She was known for her great faith and cheery outlook and intelligence. She took great joy in her family, her numerous grand children, great grandchildren and her great, great grandchild. Eileen also loved her garden and the birds at her feeders. She worked for 25 years in Saint John before taking her retirement at the age of 67. After her retirement, Eileen was actively involved in the community, doing fund raising for charitable organizations. Many charitable organizations benefited from her generosity. Eileen will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Eileen attended The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and belonged to the Catholic Women’s league at St Peter’s Church. Eileen is survived by her children Jeffery (Karen-Anne), Jeanette, Tony (Linda), Regina, Michael (Judi), Cathy (Jim), Kevin (Viven), Pat (Lindy), Bernadette, Robert (Olga), grandchildren Mark, Clinton, Andrea (Stephane), Douglas, Stephen, David, John, Shannon, Peter (Resha), Donnie, Jenifer, Chelsea, Portia, twenty great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was predeceased by her mother, father, brothers and sisters as well as her husband Donald and her beloved daughter-in- law Linda Mantin. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Peter’s Church, 50 Clarendon Street, on Saturday at 11:00am. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery at a later date.
