Obituary of D. Freda Purdy

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of D. Freda (MacNamara) Purdy wife of the late Frank Leslie Purdy, which occurred on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born on April 24, 1919 she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Myrtle (Logan) MacNamara. Freda had resided in Saint John until moving to Kingston Peninsula 1993. She was a former member of Portland United Church and Summerville United Church; she enjoyed her grandchildren, gardening, and camping in St. Andrews. Freda is survived by one daughter, Lynn Quigley (James) of Kingston Peninsula; Lynn’s biological brother, Paul Pay; one sister, Bertha Stevenson (John) of Fredericton; one sister-in-law, Hazel MacNamara of Saint John; three grandchildren, Ashley Fox (Craig), Jamie Lee and Derek; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by two brothers, Russell and Donald MacNamara; one sister-in-law, Dorothy MacNamara. The family would like to thank the staff of Rocmaura Nursing Home for their care and compassion. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Friday, February 24, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery at a later date.
