Obituary of H. George H. Wood

Hayward "George" Henry Wood of Saint John passed away on Monday, April 09, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on November 17, 1938, he was a son of the late R. Hayward and Agnes M. (Truswell) Wood. George started his working career with CHSJ Radio as a program director, and then worked as a graphic artist until he retired. In his earlier years, he played bass with Pete and the Blue Shadows, and started a fly fishing club in Saint John. In his spare time, George enjoyed fishing and photography. George is survived by his children, Randy Wood (Shelley) of Edmonton, AB, Chris Wood (Leanne) of Tignish, PEI, Chet Wood (April) of Saint John, and Julie Holmes (Tim) of Spruce Grove, AB; brothers Donald Wood (Heather) of Saint John and Everett Truswell (Carol) of Ottawa, ON; a sister, Eleanor Hanlon (Paul) of Saint John; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; his special friend, Jean Lanteigne of Saint John; and other extended family members. He was predeceased by his wife, Janet (Richards) Wood, and by a great grandchild, Marcus. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 3:00 PM from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
