Obituary of Raymond Carson Willis

The death of Raymond Carson Willis, husband of Janice Muriel (Teed) Willis, occurred on June 15, 2012 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Toronto. Ray was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and was the son of the late John and Amy (Carson) Willis. He taught school in Ireland for 34 years. He came to Canada in 1973, settling in Saint John, and taught school for ten years in Rothesay. Ray retired from teaching in 1983. During his lifetime, he was actively involved in music, both in Ireland and New Brunswick. He played keyboard for many years in the band "Memory Lane", and in his latter years accompanied sing-songs in local retirement homes. Ray is survived by his wife, Janice; his son, Rodney Willis (Lynn); his daughter, Joy (Willis) Sharvin; his daughter, Megan (McMulkin) Turvolgyi (Stephen); seven grandchildren, Nicholas Connor, Michelle Willis, Jack, Amy, and Mark Sharvin, Paul Joseph and Georgia Rae Turvolgyi. He also leaves one great grandchild, Rhylee Connor. In keeping with the family’s wishes, there will be no visitation, and a private graveside service will be held in New Brunswick at a later date.
